What are Web Applications
From the vantage point of software engineering, web applications or webapps are application software that runs over the World Wide Web or an intranet. Webapps are gaining popularity in terms of software application practicability.
Web applications are becoming more popular because of the ubiquity of a client. The capability of updating and maintaining the web application without the need for distribution or installation of the software in potentially thousands of client computers is a key reason to its popularity. Implementation of webmail, online auctions, wikis, online retail sales, weblogs, discussion boards, MMORPGs and many other online functions are done through development of web applications. Web applications are basically the driving force behind web activities.
