Flicker

post5.jpgPrior to Web 2.0 or some refer to it as Web 1.0, web applications were mostly monumental. Majority of web applications were based on HTML characterized by clumsy capabilities of the web page model. User experience was not very enjoyable most of the time. However, there were some instances wherein some web applications were completely written in Flash. Unfortunately, these applications had their own world alone and separated from the rest of the web site. This was not a very attractive site because of the obvious that the application was out of place. Although they brought momentary delight to the user at times, still the functionality was very limited.

Suddenly, for the first time, Flash and AJAX elements were fused in a seamless form together with the HTML page. That is when Flickr changed the course of web application development. Everything fit together and flowed beautifully. This caused the turning point for web-based applications.
